Job Market Tracker Report 2022 Quarter 3
2.7% unemployment rate, health care and social assistance retain largest posting volume

The Sonoma County Economic Development Board released the 2022 Third Quarter Sonoma County Job Market Tracker report. The report captures data on current job opportunities and desired skills from job postings in Sonoma County. The report also breaks down most in demand jobs and median salaries of job postings.
Sonoma County’s unemployment rate at the end of the third quarter of 2022 remained at 2.7%, same as the previous quarter. This is about one percentage point and a half below the State of California’s unemployment rate at 4.1% and nearly one percentage point below the United States’ unemployment rate at 3.5%.
The third quarter of 2022, Sonoma County saw 16,787 unique job postings, 5,951 less than the previous quarter. The largest volume of job postings came from the health care and social assistance industry at 2,989 unique job postings, followed by the administrative and support and waste management industry with 1,801 unique postings. Other top industries included retail trade, manufacturing, and accommodation and food services.
Top posted occupation for the third quarter was registered nurses with 1,247 unique postings and an advertised average media salary of $133,900. This was followed by home health and personal care aides with 1,109 unique job postings and an advertised average median salary of $31,100. Third most posted occupation was for retail salespersons with 545 unique postings and an advertised median salary of $36,500.
