Company Story
Keysight Technologies (formerly Agilent Technologies), was originally part of the Hewlett-Packard Company. Keysight manufactures electronic test and measurement equipment and software for the telecommunications, aerospace and defense, industrial, computer and semiconductor industries. The company has been in the North Bay since 1972, and with 1,300 employees in Santa Rosa and 10,000 worldwide, it is one of the region’s biggest employers and the largest company ever headquartered in Sonoma County.
Why Sonoma County
In 2014, when Keysight Technologies was spun off by Agilent, the company could have located anywhere in the world. However, it chose to remain in Sonoma County. Senior Vice-President and Chief of Staff, Hamish Gray, points out the many advantages of locating a business in Sonoma County, including access to a highly-skilled labor force, existing technological infrastructure, and close proximity to San Francisco and the Silicon Valley.
Gray also points out Sonoma County's superb quality of life.“We are here in Sonoma County because of the legacy of Hewlett-Packard’s founders. We have chosen to be here because of Sonoma County’s quality of life. It appeals to the type of person looking for a different lifestyle compared to city living.”
